Aethera New Moon ceramic wall hanging
The new moon, a dark phase in the lunar cycle, signifies new beginnings and reflection. Occurring monthly, it creates a perfect moment for contemplation and intention-setting. This phase encourages inward focus, aiding in evaluation of aspirations and renewal. Celebrated by many cultures, it inspires goal-setting for the upcoming lunar cycle. Common rituals include meditation, journaling, and creative activities to foster clarity and purpose. The moon's absence symbolises a blank canvas for pondering past successes and future ambitions. Additionally, it impacts biological cycles, with farmers timing activities to enhance growth. As the moon waxes, it reminds us of life's phases, promoting a mindset of positivity and transformation.
On the new moon I have drawn the symbols for anir and earth.
Culturally, both air and earth hold deep symbolism in many mythologies and philosophies. Earth represents stability, grounding, and the nurturing foundation of life, while air symbolises intellect, movement, and the breath of inspiration. Together, they reflect a balance between structure and expansion, rootedness and freedom. These elements remind us of the harmony between stability and change, showing how growth is nourished when vision and practicality work hand in hand.
Aethera is a Blend Aether (the Greek personification of the upper air or sky) with Terra (Latin for earth), Aethera represents the union of air and earth energies during the New Moon. She embodies grounding stability and the lightness of new possibilities, symbolizing fresh starts grounded in both wisdom and vision, as the air inspires and the earth nurtures. Perfect for a moon linked to both elements, reflecting balance and renewal.
